INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER USAGE OF POND PRO 2000

Surface preparation
Prior to application of PondPro it is important to ensure you have a dry, clean and structurally strong pond surface. Use of detergents or other toxic chemicals in the preparation of your pond surface is not suggested. Using a medium bristle brush and/or pressurized water source should be sufficient. The surface should be clean of any dirt or other debris. Only in ponds or water features that are without plants or fish should you consider using cleaning solutions or chemicals.

On an EPDM liner that has not been coated with other coatings a one coat application of PondPro2000 will work. For ponds that have been coated with a 3rd party coating and for any concrete pond we recommend ordering the "PondPro Concrete". Any loose caulking needs to first be removed and replaced with either Butyl or acrylic caulk. Remove loose portions of existing coatings with a scraper and wire brush. Any oil or wax residue must be completely removed with solvent (mineral spirits). Whatever coatings still have good adhesion may remain and coated with the PondPro Concrete. Rusty metal should be wire brushed to remove loose oxide. Tightly adhering corrosion may be directly coated with PondPro 2000®.

Coverage:
PondPro 2000® coverage on a smooth surface is 42 sq. ft. per individual gallon. Each unit of PondPro 2000® comes with its own pre-measured bottle of catalyst, the activator that starts the curing process. Once the catalyst is added you have a 4 hour pot life to apply the material. Normal application rate is a 20 mil thickness which equates to about five individual pieces of paper. The coverage for the PondProConcrete® is 150 sq. feet and will dry to approximately a 30 mil. It comes in equal parts; one gallon of Part A and one gallon of Part B. Mix only what you need and can apply in an hour as PondProConcrete® has a one hour pot life. Any unmixed material that you do not need can be store for up to three years. If you need assistance calculating the coverage you can give our office a call at (310) 645-0366.

How To Mix
When mixing PondPro 2000® you may notice once you open the container there is adequate space to add the bottle of catalyst and mix the material in the same can. You will need a drill, and a gallon mixer attachment for this. Each bottle of catalyst is contained in the gallon box. When mixing you want to be sure that the drill is creating a vortex and that the material is mixed for a good 4-5 minutes. During the mixing you also want to bring the drill up and down and also in a circular motion so that the material is all distributed uniformly.

For PondProConcrete® you will be mixing equal parts of Part A and Part B in a separate metal or hard plastic bucket. When mixing you want to be sure that the drill is creating a vortex and that the material is mixed for a good 4-5 minutes. During the mixing you also want to bring the drill up and down and also in a circular motion so that the material is all distributed uniformly.

The Application Process
The most effective method of application is by a combination of brush, roller or squeegee. After mixing pour out the material in a figure "S" pattern on large flat surfaces of you pond and first distribute the material with a squeegee. When you notice the squeegee is not bringing any more of the material back in the rubber of the squeegee you then go back over the area you squeegeed with the 3/8 inch roller. For smaller ponds and verticals a paintbrush is the appropriate method.

The Curing Process
One of the unique benefits of For PondPro 2000® vs. other pond sealers on the market is that they cure slower allowing it to get into the smallest of cracks and crevices. Please allow 6 days of 50 degree weather before you fill you pond with water. If the temperature goes below 50 degrees just add that lost time to your overall cure time. For PondPro2000® can tolerate extreme temperatures as low as forty degrees below zero and waterproofs immediately after it has been applied. Regardless of geographic region, there is never a need to worry about the product cracking. PondProConcrete® should not come in contact with rain during the curing process. After 5 days of above 50 degree weather you can fill you pond with water. If the temperature goes below 50 degrees just add that time to your overall cure time. This product can be applied at freezing temperatures and will waterproof right after it is applied. We do suggest that the product is applied while your day time temperatures are at least 50 or above. It can certainly drop during the night and this will not in any way effect the product. You simply need to wait until the next day when daytime temperatures reach above 50 for the product to continue to cure. Sunlight UV and humid will have no effect on the material.
